through the eyes of the beholder

The mind of Kieslowski has intrigued me in the last few months to the point of buying a book about him, which turned out to be shit. Today in The Independent, Irene Jacob talks about him (for those who don’t know, she is the actress in Red and the Double Life of Veronique, which I mentioned here). I’ve learnt more with Irene Jacob’s “portrait” of Kieslowsky than with the lousy book. I understand that it takes a man with sensitivity for movements to capture the essence of women in their feminine acute perception, presentiments, sensitivity and intuition. And this, he knew, cannot be spoken about. For it exists at a poetic level, only achieved by looking at the concrete, banal, everyday life.
